THE CITY OF VIENNA
The City of Vienna´s
Web Service provides all sorts of information for tourists:
maps, weather, events, tickets, history, and more.
ARRIVAL IN VIENNA
On Wednesday ISHPSSB-stuff will welcome you at the airport. They will also sell
the "Wien-Karte" (a ticket for the whole week for € 12.50).
We recommend to take the
Airport Bus to Wien Westbahnhof (rather than taking a cab from the airport to
your hotel), and to continue by taxi from there. The bus costs only 5.80 Euro,
whereas a cab from the airport could turn out to be quite expensive.
Alternatively, you can board tram number 5 from Westbahnhof (direction "Praterstern"),
which will bring you
in the vicinity of most of the hotels listed above.
Tickets for both the Airport Bus and the Vienna public transportation system
can be purchased from machines either before boardiing or on board. If you intend
to use public transport throughout your stay in Vienna we recommand that you
buy a "Wien-Karte," which allows you free access of the subway, trams
and buses for the whole week (Monday - Sunday). The "Wien-Karte" costs
only 12.50 Euro and can be purchased at many subway stations, including Westbahnhof.
THE VIENNA UNIVERSITY
CAMPUS
The meeting will be held on the Vienna University Campus.
Information
about the Campus (in German).
PRESENTATION FACILITIES
Data projectors, overhead projectors, and laptop computers will be available
in every room. If you plan to bring your presentation only, please use a cd
(preferrably ISO formatted), not a floppy disk. The laptops will be Macs (which
also read PC files) and will have Powerpoint and Keynote installed. If you use
any other presentation software, please bring your own computer.
If you want to use slides, please contact the media person in the morning of
your session.
POST-CONFERENCE TOURS
Depending on the interest in the different locations, trips to fascinating and
topic-related places nearby Vienna will be arranged. So far there are three
options. Registration and payment for the tours should be made at the registration
desk on-site (in Euro). Costs will also depend on the number of participants.
YOUR LOCAL HOST
The meeting will be hosted by Werner Callebaut and Gerd
Müller, who are the scientific manager and the chair of the Board
of the Konrad Lorenz Institute
for Evolution and Cognition Research (KLI).
Astrid Juette, the executive manager of the KLI, is responsible
for local arrangements (and this information page). She can be contacted at
