We are pleased to welcome our new Writing-up Fellow Lakshmi Kalathinkunnath to the KLI.
She holds a Dual Degree from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Kolkata, India, with a major degree in physics and a minor degree in biology and is fascinated by interdisciplinary research. Lakshmi is currently a PhD student at the University of Vienna (VDS CoBeNe), jointly supervised by Prof. Kristin Tessmar-Raible (chronobiology), Prof. Helmut Leder (psychology), and in collaboration with Dr. Peter Wolf (endocrinology, Med.Univ. Vienna). Her research aims at understanding the interconnection between biological timing, glucocorticoids, and psychology.
In her PhD project “Diversity in Chronobiology and Cognitive Parameters Caused by Altered HPA Axis Signalling”, Lakshmi explores the possible diversity in human chronobiology and cognitive parameters in healthy humans, as well as patients diagnosed with primary adrenal insufficiency, being extreme cases of naturally occurring human variations caused by altered Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal axis signalling.
Lakshmi will be at the KLI from 1 September to 28 February 2026.
